After delivering major hits like the Munnabhai series and 3 Idiots it's natural for expectations to soar sky high from director Rajkumar Hirani. He doesn't disappoint instead exceeds the expectations.
In a country obsessed with blind faith we have a host of so called "godmen" who are making pots of money by cheating the so called innocent believers. Hirani tries to expose the not so good face of the evil godmen here. The movie chronicles the journey of PK ( Aamir Khan ) who along with a feisty journo Jagat Janani ( Anushka Sharma ) tries to make public the evil intentions of a money spinning god man Tapaswi Baba (Saurabh Shukla ).
Hirani scores high in the direction department. He successfully mixes humour with emotions and presents a beautiful roller coaster ride. He along with writer Abhijat Joshi have tried their best not to hurt any religious sentiments. .by balancing the various religion related jokes. For that matter the jokes in the movie do not appear crude or vulgar even though some are based on condoms and sex.
Aamir Khan plays his part well , not an easy character to portray on screen. His bhojpuri dialect and detailed minute display of expressions and mannerisms prove his command over the act. Anushka Sharma is pleasant to watch and plays her part very well. Saurabh Shukla is the surprise package and acts well. Boman Irani , Parikshit Sahani and Sunjay Dutt play their part well though their roles are limited to a few scenes.
Hirani has managed to strike the emotional chord by displaying human relationships like pk and his bonding with Sunjay Dutt who plays a Rajasthani Band Master and Jagat Janani's poignant tale involving a Pakistani boy ( Sushant Singh Rajput ).
Music by Shantanu Moitra and Ajay Atul is quite ok to listen to. Sonu Nigam , Shaan and Swaroop Khan sing like a dream here and Shreya Ghoshal's vocals sound sweeter than Honey and sugar put together.
A must watch for Aamir Khan fans..A movie which gives you the feel good wala feeling and fits perfectly in the slice of life genre.🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐
