In the fourth segment on artists in Bollywood who started their careers with ambitious goals but turned into one hit or one film wonders.
Deepak Parashar
With the Mr India title earned in mid 70s tall yet lanky Parashar is best remembered for playing the adab arz hai Nawab in the blockbuster Nikaah(1982), he had some hits like Sharaabi(1984) where he was in a minor role, it was a joke that he had a better chemistry with Raj Babbar than the leading ladies as they starred in a spate of multiple movies in the 80s. Parasher wasn’t able to repeat his Nawaabi Andaaz ever again.
Suneil Anand
Son of debonair evergreen Dev Anand, Suneil was launched by daddy with the musical Anand Aur Anand(1984) or was it Anand hi Anand? Whatever the title, there was no Anand for the Anand’s considering beta Suneil failed to impress the viewers. Not a chip of the old block he appeared in disastrous relaunches like Car Thief(1987) and soon vanished into oblivion.
Harish
He debuted as a leading hero opposite Karisma Kapoor in the sleeper hit Premqaidi(1991), his subsequent films bombed badly and he was soon relegated to a second fiddle to Govinda in hits like Coolie No 1(1995) and Hero No 1(1997) and failed to consolidate his position as a leading hero in Bollywood.
Kamal Sadanah
Kajol’s first hero in their debut Bekhudi(1992), he had a musical hit Rang(1993) opposite Divya Bharthi and Ayesha Jhulka but soon found himself playing lead roles in B grade movies like Rock Dancer(1994) and Hum Sab Chor Hain(1995) opposite starlets like Ritu Shivpuri. His father Brij Sadanah was once a famous director in the 70s and 80s, but Kamal couldn’t bloom further.
Faisal Khan
Aamir Khan’s Baby brother debuted with Madhosh(1994) alongside a disinterested Anjali Jathar. Aamir also tried relaunching Faisal’s nosedived career with the big budget Mela(2000) which was the biggest flop that year. A third attempt to relaunch with Border Hindustan Ka(2003) was the highest losing proposition which eventually pushed Faisal into acute depression.
